Spiritual Significance of Hartalika Teej 2024
The Hartalika Teej 2024 festival commemorates Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati’s reconciliation. A spiritual fact states that Goddess Parvati underwent austerity to marry Lord Shiva. Goddess Parvati practiced extreme asceticism at the Ganga River’s banks in the Himalayas. Himalaya, her father, was devastated to see the Goddess in such a state. One day, Maharishi Narad arrived with a marriage proposal on behalf of Lord Vishnu. However, Goddess Parvati began to grieve after learning about it.
She explained to her female friend that she was undergoing this asceticism to marry Lord Shiva. Following this, Goddess Parvati went to the forest and immersed herself in the adoration of Lord Shiva at the suggestion of her companion. At this period, on the third day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada, in the Hasta Nakshatra, Goddess Parvati created a sand Shivalinga and then immersed herself in worshiping Lord Shiva. After seeing Goddess Parvati’s extreme austerity, Lord Shiva, in his holy form, approached her and declared her to be his spouse.
