Fasting Rules in Sawan Month 2024

People get up early, take a bath, travel to the Shiva temple, and present Shiva with fruits, honey, white flowers, belpatra, cannabis, and other offerings during the month of Shravan. Additionally, some individuals begin their sixteen Monday fasts, or sola somwar vrat, during the Sawan season.

Throughout the Sawan season, certain dietary and lifestyle restrictions are adhered to, including: 

  • Garlic, black pepper, and onions are not allowed when eating satvik meals.
  • abstaining from alcohol and meat. 
  • Bhajan-kirtan is must be done and afternoon sleep avoided during Monday fasts. 
  • During the fast, one should say Shiv Chawach or Shiv Chalisa continuously and wear clean clothes. 
  • Remain single for the entire month of Sawan. 
  • Fresh juices are preferable to boxed juices because the former contain preservatives and flavor enhancers.
