Significance of Bhadrapada Purnima 2024:

Every Hindu lunar month has one “Purnima,” or full moon day, and one “Amavasya,” or no moon day, according to the Hindu calendar. The night of the full moon has great sacred importance in Hindu mythology. Bhadrapada Purnima is very important because Bhadrapada month is devoted to worshiping Lord Vishnu. The Pitru Paksha Shraddha begins on the day after Bhadrapada Purnima.

The eastern or northern Bhadrapad Nakshatra is produced in this month on the Purnima or full moon day, which is how the astrological calculations explain the name Bhadrapada month. Griha Pravesh ceremonies are favorable to be performed on this day as well. Bhadrapada Purnima is a very important and revered holiday for devotees of Lord Vishnu. Celebration of Bhadrapada Purnima

Folk dances are performed at the Ambaji Devi temple to appease the goddess Amba Devi, who is believed to bestow prosperity and good health upon her believers. According to Indian tradition, Sati Devi’s heart dropped when Lord Vishnu sliced her body, and this is the exact spot where the temple was erected.

  • On this day, people rise early, take a bath in one of the sacred rivers (the Ganga or the Narmada), and then start their morning rituals.
  • Bhadrapada Purnima is observed by devotees who perform Satyanarayan Pooja at their homes on this day. Offer Bhog, which includes fruits, sweets, and panchamrit, to the idol of Lord Satyanarayan as well.
  • Devotees perform Satyanarayan Katha, which is believed to be auspicious, in their houses following Satyanarayan Puja.
  • People read the tales of Lord Shiva, Brahma, Vishnu, and Goddess Lakshmi after reading the Satyaranayan Katha.
  • It is thought that a lot of people observe Bhadrapada Purnima Fasting on this day. During this vrat, a diet limited to fruits and dairy products is observed. It’s a “no grain, no pulse, no salt” day today.
  • Maha Mrityunjay Hawan is believed to be performed auspiciously on Bhadrapada Purnima Day. The person who devotes themselves fully to this havan will be liberated from all bad influences in their life.
  • It is seen as auspicious to engage in charitable endeavors on this day.
