Navratri, which is regarded as an auspicious occasion, is celebrated for nine days and nine colors in 2023. In the months of Magha and Ashadha, there are two more Navratris celebrated as Gupt Navratri. In the year 2023, Shardiya Navratri 2023 will take place from October 15, 2023, on Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashwina, until October 24, 2023, on Dashami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the same month.

Shardiya Navratri 2023 Colors, Along With Dates & Meaning

This year’s nine-day festival starts on October 15 and runs until October 24. There is a separate hue for each day of Shardiya Navratri 2023, and each color corresponds to a different element of the goddess Durga. The colors associated with specific Goddess Durga incarnations are extremely important to her devotees.

Orange, Pratipada (October 15, 2023)

Wealth and wishes arrive on the first day, which is dedicated to the goddess Shailputri. On this day, orange is worn to symbolize luck and favors.

Dwitiya – White (October 16, 2023) 

On the second day, adoration is offered to Goddess Brahmacharini for enlightenment and comprehension. White is her preferred hue since it stands for enlightenment and purity.

Tritiya, Red (October 17, 2023)

Chandraghanta, the goddess of grace and valor, is worshiped on day three. Red represents strength and protection. On Tritiya Tithi, it is claimed that this color bestows positivity, strength, and courage.

Chaturthi – Blue (Royal blue) – 18 October 2023

Goddess Kushmanda is revered for her ability to drive out the darkness on the fourth day. Invoking Goddess Kushmanda for good health and riches, royal blue symbolizes wealth and power.

Yellow for Panchami on October 19, 2023.

Skandamata is worshipped for prosperity, happiness, and serenity on the fifth day. Yellow, which is her favorite color, makes homes joyful and prosperous.

Green for Sashti (October 20, 2023)

On day six, people worship the goddess Katyayani, who represents peace. Green is her preferred hue in nature. It stands for peace in life and balance and progress.

Grey in Saptami (October 21, 2023)

On the seventh day, Kalaratri, the fierce manifestation of Durga, is celebrated. Grey is a color of strength and resiliency, signifying the triumph of knowledge over ignorance.

Purple Ashtami (October 22, 2023)

Mahagauri is worshipped on day eight. She is reputed to bestow serenity and endurance upon her devotees. Purple, a color that stands for holiness, serenity, and divinity, is her favorite.

Peacock Green (October 23, 2023): Navami

On the ninth day, Siddhidatri, the goddess who looks after spiritual force, is worshiped. She is admired for her wealth and accomplishments. Peacock green, which is her favorite color, represents knowledge, wisdom, and the eradication of ignorance.

Types of Navratri

Chaitra Navratri 2023: Vasant Navratri is observed this year. Chaitra Navratri, according to the Hindu calendar, takes place between March and April.

Sharad Navratri 2023: Shardiya Navratri 2023 is a very well-known holiday that is observed in Ashwin (September–October).

Magha Navratri: This festival is observed between January and February. The festival of Vasant Panchami is observed on the fifth day of Navratri. On this day, Saraswati is prayed to for benefits.

Ashadha Navratri: Ashadha is a Hindu month that begins in June and ends in July.
